Thursday Thoughts

Thoughts lately...

1) Is there any dirt under all the ice in Antarctica? Or is it just a floating ice cube? I'm sure there's dirt, but I wondered nonetheless.

2) I see a lot of posts about how to get smokey eyes just right. It's easy guys. Sleep in yesterday's makeup.

3) I don't think horseradish was ever meant to be eaten. Somebody made a mistake a long time ago and we're all paying for it now.

Re: Antarctica

Not just dirt. There are mountains, some of the highest in the world outside of the Himalayas. There are large fresh water lakes, like Lake Vostok, trapped beneath miles of ice for millions of years where NASA wants to test ice-melting probes it plans to send to Galilean moons like Europa to search for alien life in the vast global ocean under its thick crust of ice.

Buried in the dirt under those glaciers are dinosaur fossils from from the Triassic, Jurassic and Cretaceous periods during which Antarctica was free of ice.

And some crackpots, like Graham Hancock and his ilk, believe the glaciers there are only ten or twelve thousand of years old, rather than millions, and that beneath those glaciers are the ruins of ancient civilizations from remote antiquity.

Regarding horseradish - this makes me wonder if there are other things we're blithely eating that we were never meant to eat. Maybe the secret to immortality or super powers lies in our not eating something we assume is good for us.

I also wonder if there are things we're *supposed* to eat that we don't.
